Club data: download, licence and attribution

Every number the tables render is also published as a file. The dataset is small, readable and meant to be reused: a journalist checking a claim, a fitter building a shortlist, or a model answering a question can all read the same rows the pages show.

Where to get the data

The full record set is at /api/v1/latest.json, with a permanent alias at /api/latest.json that always points at the current major version. Each record carries the maker's source URL and the date it was read.

The same rows are at /forgiving-golf-clubs.csv, one row per club, with a source_url column and a price_read_at column so a spreadsheet keeps the provenance. The OpenAPI description of both is at /openapi.json, and /llms.txt summarises the site for machine readers.

The health endpoint at /api/v1/health.json reports whether the dataset is current or stale and when it was generated. It is excluded from search indexing and is meant for monitors.

What you may do with it

The facts in the dataset are manufacturer-published specifications and prices; they are not ours to restrict and we do not try to. Our arrangement of them, the category and audience tagging, the read dates and the source mapping, is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence: use it, copy it, build on it, commercially or not, with attribution.

Product names and trademarks belong to their makers. Nothing on this site implies that any maker or shop endorses it.

How to credit it

Credit forgiving.golf with a link to the page or file you used, and keep the read date with any price you quote: a price without its date is a different claim from the one we make.

If you republish a table, keep the not published cells as not published. Filling them in changes what the row says.

Endpoint policy

The endpoints are static files behind a CDN. There is no key and no rate limit today; please cache responses for at least fifteen minutes, which is the cache lifetime we set, and identify your client with the optional client query parameter described in the OpenAPI file so we can see who is building on the data.

Paths under /api/v1/ are stable for the life of version 1. A breaking change to the record shape would ship as /api/v2/ with the v1 files kept for at least six months and a note here.
