Privacy

This site counts visits with Plausible, which sets no cookies, and with Google Analytics, which does. In Europe, and whenever we cannot tell which country a visit comes from, Google Analytics waits until you choose Accept on the bar at the bottom of the page. Links to shops and makers go straight to those sites, whose own privacy policies then apply.

Analytics and cookie choices

Page views are counted by a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance run by the publisher. It records the page, the referrer, the country, the browser family and the device type, without cookies and without a persistent identifier; visitors cannot be recognised across days.

Interactions on the tools, a filter changed, a table re-sorted, a shop link clicked, a file downloaded, are counted as named events so we can tell which pages help. They carry the page and the control, never a person.

Google Analytics is run by Google, which receives the page address, the actions we measure on this site and browser and device information, and sets cookies that tell repeat visits apart. Its advertising features are off.

In the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and whenever we cannot tell which country a visit comes from, Google Analytics loads only after you choose Accept on the bar at the bottom of the page. Decline loads nothing from Google. Your choice is kept in this browser for six months, then the bar asks again.

Elsewhere, Google Analytics loads with each page unless you choose Decline. Cloudflare, which delivers our pages, tells your browser which country the visit comes from.

Wherever you are, Cookie choices at the bottom of any page, or the button below, changes your choice. Decline stops Google Analytics on this site in this browser and deletes its analytics cookies. If analytics was running, the page reloads to apply your choice. Decline holds on every page; outside the countries above it is kept until you change it.

What we collect and keep

We keep aggregate counts of the above. We do not ask for names or accounts. The contact form is the one place where something you type is sent to us: your message, your e-mail address and any page or link you add go through Cloudflare, which runs an automatic security check that never asks you to solve anything. We keep each message in our contact inbox at Cloudflare for 12 months, then it is deleted automatically, and a copy goes to a private Discord channel the publisher reads. We use your e-mail address only to answer you. An e-mail you send to our address instead is kept for as long as it takes to act on it.

The hosting server keeps ordinary web-server access logs (IP address, requested path, user agent, time) for a short rotation window, used only to keep the site running and to see which automated readers request the data files.

Outbound links and third parties

Links to club makers and shops open websites with their own privacy policies. Some shop links, including those to Amazon, are affiliate links: they tell the shop you came from this site, and a purchase may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The affiliate disclosure page explains the arrangement.

The fonts are served from this site, so reading a page sends no font request anywhere else. On the contact page, Cloudflare's security check runs to keep automated spam out of the form. Apart from that and the analytics above, no third-party script runs on the site: no advertising, no social widgets, no chat.

Contact

To see or delete a message you sent through the form, or with any question about this policy, use the contact form or write to [email protected]; we delete both copies of a message on request. Forgiving Golf is the site's publisher; European Union data-protection law applies.
