Each figure is the new price a club showed on the day we read it: at its maker, or at the shop named beside it where the maker sells none or does not show a price. A complete set is the boxed set as its maker sells it, bag included. Amazon prices are never used. The median is the middle price of the complete sets we price, or the average of the two middle ones when the count is even.
The figures cover the current forgiving models in our catalogue, not every club on sale. A row is added on the day a price moves or a club joins the catalogue, and says how many it covers; a price we could not read again keeps its last amount until a later read. How to read a boxed set
Count the clubs, not the pieces. Makers count the bag and the head covers. Nine clubs is a full first bag; the club list column is the number that matters.
Look for the hybrid. A set that replaces the 3, 4 and 5 irons with hybrids is easier to play from the grass than one that hands a beginner long irons. The list shows it as "4H" or "5H" or "hybrid".
Check the flex you will get. Most sets ship regular; the senior and women's versions are separate products with lighter shafts and, for women's sets, shorter lengths. The Flexes column shows what the product you are looking at ships with.
Price per club is price divided by club count. Use it to see what a bigger set's extra money actually buys, then look at which clubs were added.
Then the balls. A new swing loses balls, so a soft ball at a value price makes more sense than a tour ball; the golf ball guide compares each maker's, with its price a dozen.
