Callaway Elyte X fairway wood
Maximum forgiveness, 4.0 of 5
Callaway's draw-biased fairway wood of 2025, rated highest for forgiveness on its chart, a step above the Elyte: a larger, shallower head for an easy, high launch, a 35-gram tungsten weight set low and forward in the 3- to 7-woods for low strikes, and four lofts from a 15° 3-wood to a 21° 7-wood. Callaway's own store still listed it new in October 2026, and the Quantum Max D replaced it.

- You slice: the head has a slight draw bias built in.
- You play left-handed: it was made left-handed in the 3- and 5-woods (15° and 18°).
- You need a softer shaft: it came in R2 (Light), the flex Callaway's buying guide calls senior.

What changed in the Quantum Max D
The Quantum Max D keeps the Elyte X's 15° 3-wood, 16.5° 3HL and 18° 5-wood, their lies and lengths and the left-handed 3- and 5-woods, and makes the 7-wood half a degree weaker (21.5° against 21°). Its heads are larger (a 190cc 3-wood against 175cc, a 165cc 7-wood against 148cc), and its loft sleeve reaches the 5-wood, where the Elyte X has one in the 3-wood and 3HL only. Callaway puts the Quantum Max D's draw bias down to weight inside the heel and the Elyte X's to its shape, and it swaps the Elyte X's 35-gram tungsten weight for Speed Wave 2.0, up to 40 grams low and forward, and the Ai 10x face for a newer Ai-designed face. Both have the stepped sole, and both are rated highest for forgiveness on Callaway's charts.
Callaway still listed the Elyte X new in October 2026, and used ones cost far less than a new Quantum Max D. Choose it for the same lofts, lies and lengths for less; choose the Quantum Max D for the larger heads, the adjustable 5-wood or a new club.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Callaway publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness fairway wood head, the most forgiving kind Callaway made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
