  • You play left-handed: it is sold left-handed in the 3- and 5-woods (15° and 18°).
  • You need a softer shaft: it comes in R2 (Light), the flex Callaway's buying guide calls senior.

Choose something else if

What changed from the Elyte X

The Quantum Max D keeps the Elyte X's 15° 3-wood, 16.5° 3HL and 18° 5-wood, their lies and lengths and the left-handed 3- and 5-woods, and makes the 7-wood half a degree weaker (21.5° against 21°). Its heads are larger (a 190cc 3-wood against 175cc, a 165cc 7-wood against 148cc), and its loft sleeve reaches the 5-wood, where the Elyte X has one in the 3-wood and 3HL only. Callaway puts the Quantum Max D's draw bias down to weight inside the heel and the Elyte X's to its shape, and it swaps the Elyte X's 35-gram tungsten weight for Speed Wave 2.0, up to 40 grams low and forward, and the Ai 10x face for a newer Ai-designed face. Both have the stepped sole, and both are rated highest for forgiveness on Callaway's charts.

Callaway still listed the Elyte X new in October 2026, and used ones cost far less than a new Quantum Max D. Choose it for the same lofts, lies and lengths for less; choose the Quantum Max D for the larger heads, the adjustable 5-wood or a new club.

What changed from the Rogue ST MAX D

Both are Callaway's draw fairway woods, rated highest for forgiveness on its charts, with extra weight in the heel. The Quantum Max D keeps the Rogue ST MAX D's lies and lengths in the 3-, 5- and 7-woods and the left-handed 3- and 5-woods, but its lofts are stronger: a 15° 3-wood against 16°, an 18° 5-wood against 19° and a 21.5° 7-wood against 22°. It adds a 16.5° 3HL, the nearest loft to the old 3-wood's 16°. Its heads are larger (a 190cc 3-wood against 180cc, a 165cc 7-wood against 140cc), it swaps the tungsten cartridge of up to 27 grams for Speed Wave 2.0, up to 40 grams low and forward, and it adds a stepped sole that Callaway says cuts turf contact. Callaway sold the Rogue ST MAX D for "a powerful draw" and calls the Quantum Max D's draw bias slight.

Callaway still sold the Rogue ST MAX D new in June 2026, on sale, and used ones cost well under half the price of a new Quantum Max D. Choose it for the stronger draw Callaway built it for, on a budget; choose the Quantum Max D for the larger heads, the stepped sole, the 16.5° 3HL or a new club.
