What changed in the Quantum Max
The Quantum Max, six years on, keeps the MAVRIK MAX's 15° 3-wood, 18° 5-wood, 20° Heavenwood and 21° 7-wood with the same lengths and lies, so a golfer fitted in one can carry those clubs' specifications to the other. Its 9- and 11-woods have more loft, 24° and 27° against 23° and 25°, and it drops the 13.5° 3+ wood and adds a 16.5° 3HL. Its heads are much smaller (a 160cc 3-wood against 200cc). The MAVRIK MAX made its Heavenwood left-handed too; the Quantum Max's is right-handed only.
Callaway no longer sells the MAVRIK MAX, so it is bought used, for a fraction of a new Quantum Max. It also scores higher on our method: Callaway called it its largest and most forgiving MAVRIK head, and rates the Quantum Max a step below the Quantum Max D on its own chart. Choose it for a bigger head with the same 3-wood, 5-wood, Heavenwood and 7-wood on a small budget, or for a left-handed Heavenwood; choose the Quantum Max for a new club or a 3HL.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Callaway publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness fairway wood head, the most forgiving kind Callaway made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
