Callaway Rogue driver

Driver, 3.0 of 5 for forgiveness

Callaway's 2018 driver: a 460cc head with the largest carbon crown Callaway had made, the weight it saved moved to the edges for a higher MOI, in 9° or 10.5°, or a 13.5° high-launch head built to order. Callaway no longer sells the Rogue new, and the Quantum Max is the current model in its line.

Choose it if

  • You want an older Callaway head with more MOI for little money.
  • You play left-handed: it was made left-handed.
  • You need a softer shaft: it came in Light, the flex Callaway's buying guide calls senior.

Choose something else if

  • If a slow swing needs more loft off the shelf, choose another driver: the Rogue came in 9° and 10.5°, and its 13.5° was built to order.

What changed in the Quantum Max

Both are Callaway's 460cc drivers with an adjustable hosel. The Rogue came in 9° and 10.5°, with a 13.5° high-launch head built to order, at 45.5 inches; it has no movable weight, and Callaway moved the weight its carbon crown saved to the edges of the head for a higher MOI. The Quantum Max adds a 12° in stock, slides a 10-gram weight between neutral and draw settings, and Callaway sells it on a face of titanium, polymer and carbon layers that keeps speed on off-centre hits.

No shop we checked sells the Rogue new, and used it costs a fraction of a new Quantum Max. Choose it for the cheapest way into a Callaway driver; choose a newer used model, such as the MAVRIK MAX, for Callaway's Max forgiveness rating, or the Quantum Max for a weight you can set and the newer face.

How the 3.0 adds up
