What changed in the Quantum Max

The Quantum Max, four generations on, keeps the Rogue ST MAX's seven lofts, from a 15° 3-wood to a 27° 11-wood with the 20° Heavenwood, their lengths and the left-handed 3-, 5- and 7-woods. It sets every lie a degree more upright, half a degree in the Heavenwood, and its heads are a little smaller (a 160cc 3-wood against 174cc). It swaps the Rogue ST MAX's tungsten cartridge of up to 27 grams for Speed Wave 2.0, up to 40 grams low and forward, and adds a stepped sole that Callaway says cuts turf contact. Callaway re-released the Rogue ST MAX head in 2024 as the Rogue ST '24 MAX, in the 3-, 5- and 7-woods only, with the same lofts, lies, lengths and head sizes.

Callaway no longer sells the Rogue ST MAX, so it is bought used, for well under half the price of a new Quantum Max. It also scores higher on our method: Callaway rated it highest for forgiveness on its 2022 chart, and rates the Quantum Max a step lower on its own. Choose it for that head in any of seven lofts on a budget; choose the Quantum Max for the stepped sole, lies a degree more upright or a new club.

How the 4.0 adds up
