Titleist GT2 fairway wood

Game improvement, 3.0 of 5 for forgiveness

Titleist's fast and forgiving fairway wood of 2024: a forged face that wraps round the bottom of the head to keep ball speed on low strikes, the centre of gravity set deep and close to the face for a high launch with low spin, and a classic shape, from 13.5° to 21° in either hand. Titleist no longer sells the GT2 new, and the GTS2 replaced it.

What changed in the GTS2

The GTS2 keeps the GT2's lofts, 13.5° to 21° in either hand, and its lengths, 43 inches in the 3-wood. Titleist built the GTS2 for sweeping swings and strikes low on the face, with a larger profile and a shallower face than its GTS3, a composite crown that wraps round the head to set the centre of gravity lower and deeper, a re-engineered L-Cup face, and two heel and toe weights a fitter can swap, which the GT2 does not have. Titleist called the GT2 its fast and forgiving fairway and calls the GTS2 its all-around playability fairway, for maximum playability, so the two sit in different classes here.

Titleist no longer sells the GT2, so it is bought used, for much less than a new GTS2. Choose a used GT2 for the same lofts in a classic shape; choose the GTS2 for the lower, deeper centre of gravity, the shallow face and the weights a fitter can set.
