Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke MAX D driver
Maximum forgiveness, 4.0 of 5
The draw model of Callaway's 2024 Ai Smoke drivers, which Callaway built with high MOI and a head stretched back at address for players looking to hit a draw: a fixed weight at the back for launch, in 9°, 10.5° or 12°. Callaway's own drivers list no longer showed the Ai Smoke MAX D by June 2026; the Elyte X followed it, and the Quantum Max D is the newest model in its line.

What changed in the Quantum Max D
Both are Callaway's draw-biased 460cc head for forgiveness, in 9°, 10.5° and 12° and both hands, 45.75 inches long. The Ai Smoke MAX D sets a 5-gram weight at the back of a carbon body and has the Ai Smart Face, which Callaway shaped from thousands of real golfers' swings. Callaway moved the Quantum Max D's weight inside the heel for a slight draw and gave it a face that layers titanium, polymer mesh and carbon fibre, which it says keeps ball speed on off-centre hits. The Elyte X came between them.
PGA TOUR Superstore still sells the Ai Smoke MAX D new for well under a Quantum Max D's price, and used ones cost less again. Choose it for Callaway's 2024 draw head for less; choose the Quantum Max D for the newer face.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Callaway publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.

|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness driver head, the most forgiving kind Callaway made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
