Cobra RADSPEED XB driver

Maximum forgiveness, 4.0 of 5

Cobra's 2021 forgiving driver: a 460cc head with 20 grams of weight in the back, part of it a weight you can swap, for what Cobra called the fastest ball speed with maximum forgiveness, in 9°, 10.5° or 12°. Cobra no longer sells the RADSPEED XB new; the LTDx MAX followed it, and the OPTM MAX-K is the newest model in its line.

Choose it if

  • You want a forgiving Cobra head with low spin for little money.
  • You need a left-handed club or a senior flex: both were stock builds.

Choose something else if

  • If your drives curve right, choose the RADSPEED XD, which Cobra built to fight a slice: the XB's weight sits in the back, not the heel.

What changed in the OPTM MAX-K

Cobra followed the RADSPEED XB with the LTDx MAX in 2022; the OPTM MAX-K is its forgiving head today. Both come in 9°, 10.5° and 12° in either hand. The RADSPEED XB sets 20 grams in the back, 6 of them in a weight you can swap, and 8 grams in the front, behind a milled face, and its hosel has eight settings. The OPTM MAX-K fixes an 11-gram weight low in the back, which Cobra says gives its highest MOI ever, and its hosel has 33 loft and lie settings, up to 2° either way. The RADSPEED XB is a quarter of an inch longer: 45.75 inches against 45.5.

No shop we checked sells the RADSPEED XB new, and used it costs far less than a new OPTM MAX-K. Choose it for a forgiving Cobra head with low spin for little money; choose the OPTM MAX-K for the higher MOI and the wider range of hosel settings.
