How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what L.A.B. Golf publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head type | 4 | Zero-torque build: the shaft sits at the balance point, so the face turns less during the stroke. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
The score rates the head only. Length and hand decide which version you buy, not how forgiving it is.

| Construction | In L.A.B. Golf's words: "It stays square by itself. It's still irrationally forgiving on mishits." DF3 is the tidier version of the original Directed Force - "Ever since we launched our first putter, Directed Force, golfers have been asking if we could make it less weird. DF3 is that putter." No MOI number published. Construction: entirely CNC milled from 6061 aluminium, with 8 screws on the sole made of steel or tungsten in various densities "to precisely target swing weight and lie angle balance each putter" - lie angle balance is L.A.B.'s term for the zero-torque property. Hosel/neck and alignment aid are not described in words on this page. "Stock" is the fixed-spec build; a CUSTOM DF3 at $499.00 is sold alongside it. Delivery quoted at 1-2 weeks. |
