What changed in the G440 MAX

PING followed the G410 fairway wood with the G425 MAX in 2021, then the G430 MAX and the G440 MAX. The lengths of the 3, 5, 7 and 9-woods are the same, and so is the hosel: loft 1.5° either way and the lie up to 3° flatter. The G440 MAX's lofts are a little weaker (15°, 19°, 21° and 24° against 14.5°, 17.5°, 20.5° and 23.5°), its average lies half a degree flatter, and it adds a 17° 4-wood. Its heads are larger (186cc against 171cc in the 3-wood), its face is taller, and a lighter hosel and a carbon-wrapped crown lower the centre of gravity. The G440 MAX also comes in an HL build with a lighter shaft for slower swings.

PING no longer lists the G410 fairway wood, and used ones cost far less than a new G440 MAX. It suits a golfer who wants PING's adjustable fairway wood for little money; choose the G440 MAX for a new club, the 4-wood, the larger head with its taller face, or the HL build for a slower swing.
