What changed in the G440 SFT
Both have the same eight-position hosel and a back weight with Draw and Draw+ settings, which PING puts at 13 and 20 yards of right-to-left correction, and both come in an HL build for slower swings. The G440 SFT adds a 9° head to the 10.5° that is the G430 SFT's only loft, moves to a 23-gram back weight (22 grams on the G430 SFT), adds a carbon-wrapped crown and a new hosel that PING says lower the centre of gravity, and has a hotter, thinner face with a lower face height. Its stock shaft is the ALTA CB Blue 50, where the G430 SFT has the ALTA CB Black 55.
PING still lists the G430 SFT while stock lasts, and shops still sell it new; used ones cost less again. It suits a golfer whose drives miss right (a right-hander's slice) and who wants PING's draw settings for less money; choose the G440 SFT for a 9° head or the newer face.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what PING publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 3 | A driver head PING named no forgiveness class for. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
