Choose it if

  • You want an all-round fairway wood with some help on mishits, short of TaylorMade's most forgiving head.
  • You play left-handed: it is sold left-handed in the 3-, 5- and 7-woods (15°, 18° and 21°).
  • You need a softer shaft: senior flex is stock.

Choose something else if

  • For more help on a mishit, the Qi35 Max is TaylorMade's larger head of the same year, rated highest for forgiveness on its chart, with a higher launch.

What changed in the Qi4D

The Qi4D keeps the Qi35's lofts (a 15° 3-wood, a 16.5° 3HL, an 18° 5-wood and a 21° 7-wood), its 185cc 3-wood and its place on TaylorMade's chart, rated higher for forgiveness with a mid launch and mid spin. TaylorMade adds a 24° 9-wood, puts a 4° loft sleeve in every loft where the Qi35 has one in the 3-wood, 3HL and 5-wood only, adds a ladies flex, and lists an 8-gram movable weight, which the Qi35's page does not; the Qi4D's 3-wood lie range sits a degree flatter (56° to 60° against 57° to 61°).

TaylorMade still sells the Qi35 new, for less than the Qi4D. Choose it for the same lofts and the same rating for less; choose the Qi4D for a 9-wood, a loft sleeve in the 7-wood, the movable weight or a ladies flex.
