TaylorMade's most forgiving fairway wood of 2021 by its own chart, a 190cc 3-wood with a low centre of gravity for a high launch, in five lofts from 15° to 24°. Golf Discount still sold it new on 16 Oct 2026, and the Qi4D Max is the current model in its line.

What changed in the Qi4D Max

Both are TaylorMade's most forgiving fairway wood of their year, with the same 15°, 18°, 21° and 24° lofts and the same lengths but for the 9-wood (41.5 inches against 41.25); the SIM2 Max also made a 16.5° 3HL. The Qi4D Max's heads are larger (200cc against 190cc in the 3-wood, 190cc against 160cc in the 5-wood), and its 3- and 5-woods carry a 4° loft sleeve, where the SIM2 Max's hosel is fixed. It adds an 8-gram weight that tunes flight, spin and swing weight, makes the 7-wood left-handed as well, and swaps the Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft for Mitsubishi's REAX FW, with a ladies flex in place of the extra stiff.

Golf Discount still sells the SIM2 Max new for less than a Qi4D Max, in the 3- and 5-woods, and used ones cost less again. It suits a golfer who wants a high-launching, forgiving TaylorMade fairway wood without adjustment, for less; choose the Qi4D Max for a 7- or 9-wood new, the larger head, the loft sleeve and weight, or a ladies flex.
