What changed in the Qi4D Max Rescue
Both are TaylorMade's most forgiving hybrid of their year, at the same lengths from the 3 to the 7 hybrid, left-handed in the 3, 4 and 5 hybrids only. The Qi4D Max's lofts are weaker (20°, 23°, 26°, 30° and 34° against 19°, 22°, 25°, 28° and 31°), so each hybrid launches higher, and its lies are a degree flatter. It places the centre of gravity towards the back, which TaylorMade says adds stability and launch, adds an 8-gram weight that tunes the flight, and swaps the Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft for the KBS REAX HL 50, adding a stiff flex to the senior and regular.
Golf Discount still sells the SIM2 Max Rescue new for less than a Qi4D Max, in the 3 to 5 hybrids, and used ones cost less again. It suits a golfer who wants TaylorMade's most forgiving hybrid for less, in stronger lofts; choose the Qi4D Max for a 6 or 7 hybrid new, the higher-launching lofts or the weight.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what TaylorMade publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness hybrid head, the most forgiving kind TaylorMade made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
