Choose the DARKSPEED if a set in your hand and flex costs less, since on paper the two play alike.
Choose the DS-ADAPT at the same price, for its newer face insert and softer foam.
The DS-ADAPT followed the DARKSPEED as Cobra's game improvement iron, and Cobra's tables give the two the same lengths, lies and offsets club for club (3.2 mm at the 7-iron). Both are hollow heads built for distance with a 27° 7-iron; the DS-ADAPT is half a degree weaker in the 4-iron (19° against 18.5°) and the gap wedge (48° against 47.5°), and adds Cobra's largest face insert, softer foam and a reworked weight bar. Both score 3 of 5 here, as game improvement irons with the same offset, and Cobra sells neither now.
Cobra's two DS-ADAPT irons share the hollow body and face insert; the MAX is the DS-ADAPT made for maximum forgiveness, with a larger head, a thicker topline, a wider sole, a longer blade, more offset (5.1 mm at the 7-iron against 3.2 mm) and a lighter build.
