Choose a SIM Max only if a used one in your loft and flex costs clearly less.
The SIM2 Max followed the SIM Max as TaylorMade's Max driver. Both are TaylorMade's Max head, 460cc, in 9°, 10.5° and 12° at a 45.75-inch standard length, with a resin-injected Twist Face and a fixed weight at the far back; neither has a weight you can move. The SIM2 Max rebuilt the head around a milled aluminium ring with a carbon sole and a 24-gram tungsten weight at the rear, and TaylorMade's chart rated its forgiveness highest, so it scores 4 of 5 here. The SIM Max's asymmetric sole was shaped to cut drag, and TaylorMade sold it for speed and forgiveness without naming a class, so it scores 3.
TaylorMade's 2020 Max driver: a 460cc head with its weight set at the far back of an asymmetric sole shaped to cut drag, sold on "speed and forgiveness", in 9°, 10.5° or 12°.

The SIM2 Max is the more forgiving: TaylorMade rated it, with the Max D, highest for forgiveness and the SIM2 high, and set more weight at the back, a 24-gram tungsten weight against the SIM2's 16 grams of steel.
