What changed in the Qi4D Max
Both are TaylorMade's Max head, 460cc, in 9°, 10.5° and 12°, at the same 45.75-inch length. The Qi4D Max replaces the SIM2 Max's fixed 24-gram back weight with two weights you can swap (13 and 4 grams), adds a 60X carbon Twist Face and an aluminium collar, and sells the 12° left-handed as well; TaylorMade rates its launch high, where it rated the SIM2 Max's mid.
GlobalGolf still sells the SIM2 Max new for well under the Qi4D Max's price, and used ones cost less again. Choose the Qi4D Max for the movable weights, the newer face or a 12° left-handed.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what TaylorMade publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness driver head, the most forgiving kind TaylorMade made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
