Callaway Big Bertha B21 driver

Game improvement, 3.0 of 5 for forgiveness

Callaway's 2021 Big Bertha for golfers who slice: draw-bias weighting inside the head, a low, forward centre of gravity for a high launch with low spin, and a light carbon crown, in 9°, 10.5° or 12.5°. Callaway no longer sells the Big Bertha B21 new, and the Big Bertha (2023) replaced it; Callaway's draw-biased driver today is the Quantum Max D.

  • You slice: the head has a draw bias built in.
  • You play left-handed: it was made left-handed in 9° and 10.5°.
  • You need a softer shaft: it came in Light, the flex Callaway's buying guide calls senior.

What changed in the Quantum Max D

Both are Callaway's draw-biased 460cc drivers. The B21 builds its draw bias into the head's weighting and sets its centre of gravity low and forward for a high launch with low spin, with a light carbon crown, in 9°, 10.5° and 12.5° (the 12.5° right-handed only), 45.75 inches long. The Quantum Max D, which Callaway sells on maximum forgiveness, puts its weight inside the heel for a slight draw, comes in 9°, 10.5° and 12° in both hands, and has Callaway's Tri-Force face of titanium, polymer mesh and carbon fibre. The Big Bertha (2023) came between them.

No shop we checked sells the B21 new, and used it costs a fraction of a new Quantum Max D. Choose it for a cheap slice-fighting head, with a 12.5° loft for right-handers; choose the Quantum Max D for more forgiveness and the newer face.
