Cobra SPEEDZONE XTREME driver
Maximum forgiveness, 4.0 of 5
Cobra's 2020 forgiving driver, which it called "our most forgiving driver": a larger 460cc head with 17 grams of tungsten fixed in the back and a 6-gram weight you can swap on the sole, for Cobra's highest MOI then, in 9°, 10.5° or 12°. Cobra no longer sells the SPEEDZONE XTREME new; the RADSPEED XB followed it, and the OPTM MAX-K is the newest model in its line.

Choose it if
- You want a forgiving Cobra head that launches high, for little money.
- You need a left-handed club or a senior flex: both were stock builds.
Choose something else if
- If your drives curve right, choose a draw-biased head: the XTREME's weight sits in the back, not the heel.

What changed in the OPTM MAX-K
Cobra followed the SPEEDZONE XTREME with the RADSPEED XB in 2021; the OPTM MAX-K is its forgiving head today. Both come in 9°, 10.5° and 12° in either hand. The SPEEDZONE XTREME fixes 17 grams of tungsten in the back and adds a 6-gram weight you can swap on the sole, behind a milled face, and its hosel has eight settings. The OPTM MAX-K fixes an 11-gram weight low in the back, which Cobra says gives its highest MOI ever, and its hosel has 33 loft and lie settings, up to 2° either way. Both are 45.5 inches long, the SPEEDZONE XTREME with the Cobra Connect grip it came with.
No shop we checked sells the SPEEDZONE XTREME new, and used ones cost a fraction of a new OPTM MAX-K. Choose it for a forgiving Cobra head for very little money; choose the OPTM MAX-K for the higher MOI and the wider range of hosel settings.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Cobra publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness driver head, the most forgiving kind Cobra made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.

| Construction | A larger, oversize 460cc head with a carbon crown, 17 grams of tungsten fixed in the back and a 6-gram weight you can swap on the sole, behind a milled face, and a hosel with eight loft settings. 45.5 inches with the Cobra Connect grip it came with, 45.25 with a standard grip. Buying used, read the flex against the loft: Cobra's stock shafts came in extra stiff, stiff or regular in the 9°, stiff, regular or Lite (the senior flex) in the 10.5°, and regular or Lite in the 12°, so a listing outside those was built to order or has been reshafted since. A listing called Tour Length is Cobra's shorter build of the same head, 44.5 inches with the Connect grip and a 14-gram back weight, which came in extra stiff, stiff or regular in every loft. |
