PING G425 SFT driver
Driver, 3.0 of 5 for forgiveness
PING's slice model of 2021: a 23-gram tungsten weight fixed toward the heel, which PING says bends the ball about 25 yards further right to left than the G425 MAX, on a 10.5° head. PING no longer sells the G425 SFT new; the G430 SFT replaced it, and the G440 SFT replaced the G430 SFT.

What changed in the G440 SFT
Both are 460cc draw heads with a 23-gram weight and the same eight-position hosel. The G425 SFT's weight is fixed toward the heel, for about 25 yards more right-to-left bend than the G425 MAX by PING's figure; the G440 SFT's weight moves between Draw and Draw+, about 13 and 20 yards of draw, so you can take some of the correction out. The G440 SFT adds a 9° head to the 10.5° that is the G425 SFT's only loft, a carbon-wrapped crown and a lighter hosel where the G425 has a thin titanium crown, a hotter, thinner face, and an HL build for slower swings.
PING no longer lists the G425 SFT, but Golf Discount still sells new ones in both hands, and used ones cost less again. It suits a golfer whose drives miss right (a right-hander's slice) and who wants PING's draw head for the least money; choose the G440 SFT for a 9° head, a weight you can set to less draw, or the HL build.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what PING publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 3 | A driver head PING named no forgiveness class for. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
