Choose the Hot Metal if you miss the middle or your iron shots start right.
Choose the Pro if you strike it well and want the same distance from a slimmer head.
JPX925 Hot Metal $962.50 · JPX925 Hot Metal Pro $962.50, each with its shop and checked date
Mizuno's two speed cavities share every loft (a 28° 7-iron), every lie and every length from the 4-iron to the GW, with the same cup face and tungsten low in the 4- to 7-irons. The Hot Metal is the more forgiving of the two: by Mizuno's own figures its head is longer from heel to toe, its top line thicker and its sole a millimetre wider, and it has more offset (4.8 mm at the 7-iron against 3.2 mm). Mizuno aims the Hot Metal at mid to high handicaps and the Pro at low to mid ones. The Hot Metal set runs to a sand wedge; the Pro stops at the GW and comes left-handed only as a 4-PW set in stiff steel.
Mizuno's game improvement iron, with 4.8 mm of offset at the 7-iron, tungsten low in the 4- to 7-irons for a higher launch and a sole of varying thickness that lets more of the face flex.
Mizuno's players speed cavity for low to mid handicaps: the Hot Metal's lofts (a strong 28° 7-iron), cup face and low tungsten in a slimmer head, with 3.2 mm of offset at the 7-iron and a 21.9 mm sole. Mizuno calls the Hot Metal its forgiving head and this one its players head, so it gives less help on a mishit.
