Cobra's middle DS-ADAPT head of 2025, rated high for forgiveness on its chart, a step below the DS-ADAPT MAX-K: low spin, a medium launch and a hosel with 33 loft and lie settings, in 9° or 10.5°, with its inside weight set forward in the 9° and further back in the 10.5°. Choose it if
- You want some help on mishits, short of the maker's most forgiving head.
- You need a softer shaft: senior flex is stock.
- You want to spend less: $299 is in the cheapest third of the 28 we price.
Choose something else if
- If off-centre strikes cost you most, choose the DS-ADAPT MAX-K, which Cobra calls its most forgiving head of that year, with a 12° as well.

What changed in the OPTM X
Both sit between Cobra's LS and MAX heads: 460cc, 45.50 inches long as standard, in 9° and 10.5°, with a FutureFit33 hosel of 33 loft and lie settings. The DS-ADAPT X, rated high for forgiveness on Cobra's 2025 chart (the MAX-K extreme), sets its inside weight by loft, forward and low in the 9° and further back in the 10.5°, for low spin and a medium launch. The OPTM X has two adjustable weights (11 and 3 grams), back or toe, for a neutral or fade-biased flight; Cobra names no forgiveness rating for it in words.
Cobra still sells the DS-ADAPT X new, well below the OPTM X's price. Choose the DS-ADAPT X for the same hosel settings for less money; choose the OPTM X for Cobra's newest head and its fade setting.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Cobra publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 3 | A game improvement driver head, not the most forgiving kind Cobra made. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
