Cobra's most forgiving fairway wood of 2022, rated extreme for forgiveness on its chart, with a 12-gram weight that moves from the back to the heel for more draw, in a 15.5° 3-wood, an 18.5° 5-wood and a 22.5° 7-wood. What changed in the OPTM MAX

The OPTM MAX keeps the LTDx MAX's 15.5° 3-wood and 18.5° 5-wood and their lengths (its 3-wood a quarter of an inch longer, 43.25 in against 43 in); its 7-wood is a degree stronger, 21.5° against 22.5°, and it adds a 24.5° 9-wood. Its heads are larger (182cc against 162cc in the 3-wood). Both move a heavy weight between the back and the heel to tune a draw, 14 grams in the OPTM MAX and 12 in the LTDx MAX, and the OPTM MAX's FutureFit33 hosel has 33 loft and lie settings, 2° either way, against the LTDx MAX's eight, 1.5° either way. The LTDx MAX came in stiff, regular and senior flex in every loft; the OPTM MAX's 7- and 9-woods come in regular and senior only as stock.

Cobra no longer sells the LTDx MAX, and no shop we checked has a new one, so it is bought used, for much less than a new OPTM MAX. Choose it for Cobra's heel draw weight for little money, or a 7-wood with a stock stiff shaft; choose the OPTM MAX for a new club, a 9-wood or the wider hosel settings.
