What changed in the 101 MKII
Takomo kept the lies and the offset club for club (3.4 mm at the 7-iron) and made the 101 MKII a degree stronger from the 7-iron to the PW: a 29° 7-iron against 30°, with the same 5- and 6-iron. The 101's milled face is 1.65 mm thin in every iron; the MKII's face changes thickness across the 5- to 8-iron, and Takomo gives the MKII a thinner top line than the original 101. The 101 comes as 4-iron to PW, the MKII as 5-iron to gap wedge.
Takomo still sells the first 101 new as its final batch, in either hand and for less than the 101 MKII. Choose it for the same offset and lies for less, with a 4-iron in the set; choose the 101 MKII for the face that changes thickness through the long irons, the slimmer top line and a gap wedge in place of the 4-iron.

- Moderately. It is Takomo's game improvement iron, with 3.4 mm of offset at the 7-iron and a 30° 7-iron. It scores 3.0 of 5 on our reading of what Takomo publishes about it; the most forgiving iron sets we cover score 5.0.
- Who is the 101 for?

- Does the 101 come in senior or ladies flex?

- What are the 101 lofts?
- 4-iron 20.5°, 5-iron 23°, 6-iron 26°, 7-iron 30°, 8-iron 34°, 9-iron 39°, P 44°, as Takomo publishes them. The full table with lie, length and offset is above.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Takomo publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head class | 3 | Game improvement: a forgiving head, slimmer than super game improvement. |
| Offset | +0 | 3.4 mm at the 7-iron, below our 4.5 mm mark. |
| Sole | +0 | Takomo doesn't publish a sole width, so the sole earns no point. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
The score rates the head only. Hand, flex and price decide which version you buy, not how forgiving it is. Takomo does not publish a sole width.
