Cobra AEROJET irons

Cobra's 2023 distance iron: strong lofts (a 26.5° 7-iron), a forged face insert and a 70-gram steel weight floating low behind the face for speed and launch. Cobra no longer sells the AEROJET new; the DARKSPEED followed it in 2024, then the DS-ADAPT and the KING, and the KING MAX is the KING's more forgiving version.

What changed in the KING MAX

Cobra followed the AEROJET with the DARKSPEED in 2024, the DS-ADAPT in 2025 and the KING in 2026. The KING MAX we cover is the KING's forgiving version, an oversized super game improvement iron: 3° weaker at the 7-iron (29.5° against 26.5°), with more offset (5.2 mm at the 7-iron against 3.2 mm), a floating 80 g weight and a sole Cobra reshaped with more bounce at the leading edge. Cobra names no forgiveness class for the AEROJET and sold it on speed and distance, so we give it no score.

Cobra no longer sells the AEROJET, and used sets cost about a third of a new KING MAX. Choose a used AEROJET for strong lofts and distance if you already strike your irons fairly well; choose the KING MAX for more help on thin and heavy strikes and a higher flight.

After the gap wedge (GW, 47.5°): with a 56° sand wedge, the 8.5° gap leaves room for one more wedge, at about 52°.

Callaway's iron fitting guide puts your first wedge 4° to 6° above the highest-lofted wedge in your iron set. A gap in degrees is not a gap in yards. To choose that wedge, see the forgiving wedges by loft and bounce.

Use the iron finder to compare sets for your usual miss, and check the set makeup and loft gaps before ordering.
