What changed in the OPTM X
Both are Cobra's middle head of three, 45.50 inches long as standard. The DARKSPEED X, rated high for forgiveness on Cobra's 2024 chart (the MAX extreme), has a back-weighted, traditionally sized head, a mid launch and low spin, an eight-setting loft sleeve with three draw settings, and a right-handed 12°. The OPTM X has two adjustable weights (11 and 3 grams) for a neutral or fade-biased flight and a FutureFit33 hosel with 33 loft and lie settings, and comes in 9° and 10.5° only; Cobra names no forgiveness rating for it in words.
Cobra still sells the DARKSPEED X new, well below the OPTM X's price. Choose the DARKSPEED X for a 12° or for less money; choose the OPTM X for Cobra's newest head and its fade setting.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Cobra publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 3 | A game improvement driver head, not the most forgiving kind Cobra made. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
