Cobra RADSPEED Draw fairway wood

Maximum forgiveness, 4.0 of 5

Choose it if

  • You slice off the tee or the fairway: the head is built to close the face.
  • You play left-handed: it was made left-handed in the 3- and 5-woods (14.5° and 18.5°).
  • You need a softer shaft: it came in a stock senior flex.

Choose something else if

  • For a left-handed 7-wood or a 9-wood, the OPTM MAX, Cobra's most forgiving fairway today, makes both.

What changed in the OPTM MAX

Cobra made no Draw fairway after the RADSPEED: from the LTDx MAX of 2022 its MAX fairway took on the draw, with a weight that moves to the heel. The OPTM MAX moves 14 grams between the back and the heel, where the RADSPEED Draw fixed 16 grams of heel weighting inside the head. The OPTM MAX's 3-wood is a degree weaker (15.5° against 14.5°), its 5-wood the same 18.5° and its 7-wood a degree stronger (21.5° against 22.5°), and it adds a 24.5° 9-wood. Its lengths are the same but for a 3-wood a quarter of an inch longer (43.25 in against 43 in), and its heads are 8 to 13cc larger (182cc against 169cc in the 3-wood). Its FutureFit33 hosel has 33 loft and lie settings, 2° either way, against the RADSPEED Draw's eight, 1.5° either way. Both make the 7-wood in regular and senior flex only as stock, and the OPTM MAX adds a left-handed 7-wood, which the RADSPEED Draw never had.

Cobra no longer sells the RADSPEED Draw, and no shop we checked has a new one, so it is bought used, for much less than a new OPTM MAX. Choose it for a draw built into the head, with nothing to set, for little money; choose the OPTM MAX for a new club, a 9-wood, a left-handed 7-wood, or a weight you can move back if your slice turns into a hook.
