- You want an extremely forgiving PING hybrid in place of a long iron, for little money.
- You need a left-handed club or a senior flex: both were stock builds.
Choose something else if
- If you want to change the loft yourself, look at the G410 of 2019 instead: PING's first hybrid with an adjustable hosel.

What changed in the G440
The 2, 3 and 4 hybrid lofts (17°, 20° and 23°) and the lengths are the same. The G440 makes the 5 and 6 hybrids a degree stronger (26° and 30° against 27° and 31°), sets every hybrid a degree flatter, and adds a 34° 7 hybrid. It adds a hosel that changes the loft by up to 1.5° either way, where the G25's is fixed, a carbon-wrapped crown, a slight draw bias in the 5, 6 and 7 hybrids, and an HL build with a lighter shaft for slower swings. PING's G410, G425 and G430 hybrids, which we also cover, came between them.
PING no longer sells the G25 hybrid and we found no shop selling it new, but used ones cost a fraction of a new G440. Choose a used G25 for an extremely forgiving PING hybrid for very little money; choose the G440 for the adjustable hosel, a 7 hybrid, the slight draw in the higher lofts or the HL build for a slower swing.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what PING publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 4 | A maximum-forgiveness hybrid head, the most forgiving kind PING made. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
