PING G400 SFT driver
Driver, 3.0 of 5 for forgiveness
PING's slice driver of 2017: tungsten weighting toward the heel and a lighter swingweight help square the face for a right-to-left flight, on a 445cc head in 10° or 12°. PING no longer sells the G400 SFT new; the G410 SFT followed it, and the G440 SFT is the newest model in its line.

What changed in the G440 SFT
PING followed the G400 SFT with the G410 SFT in 2019, then the G425 SFT, the G430 SFT and the G440 SFT. Both are PING's slice drivers, built to bend the ball right to left. The G400 SFT's tungsten weighting is fixed toward the heel of a 445cc head, in 10° or 12°, with a hosel that adjusts loft by 1° either way. The G440 SFT's 23-gram weight moves between Draw and Draw+, about 13 and 20 yards of draw by PING's figures, so you can take some of the correction out; it comes in 9° and 10.5°, its eight-position hosel adjusts loft by 1.5° either way and can set the lie up to 3° flatter, and it adds a carbon-wrapped crown, a lighter hosel and an HL build for slower swings.
PING no longer takes new orders for the G400 SFT, and used ones cost less than a new G440 SFT. It suits a golfer whose drives miss right (a right-hander's slice) and who wants PING's draw head with a 12° loft for little money; choose the G440 SFT for a weight you can set to less draw, the wider hosel adjustment or the HL build.

How the 3.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what PING publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 3 | A driver head PING named no forgiveness class for. |
| Forgiveness score | 3.0 | of 5 |
Draw help, lofts, flex and hand don't change the score. They decide which version fits you, and the picks for a slice or a slow swing use them.
