PING G410 irons

Game improvement, 3.5 of 5 for forgiveness

PING's game improvement iron from 2019: a shorter blade with less offset than the G400 before it, still 4.6 mm at the 7-iron, and a 30° 7-iron. PING no longer sells the G410 new; the G425 followed it, and the G440 is the newest model in its line.

Choose it if

  • You make decent contact and want help on the misses from a slimmer head.
  • Your iron shots start right or fly low: 4.6 mm of offset gives the face more time to square.
  • You want a higher flight: the 30° 7-iron is weaker than most.
  • You need a left-handed club or a senior flex: both were stock builds.

Choose something else if

  • Choose the G740 instead if you often hit it thin or heavy: PING's larger head has a wider sole.

What changed in the G440

PING's tables give the G410 and the G425 that followed it the same lofts, lies, lengths, offsets and bounces, club for club; PING made the G425's blade shorter, with a higher MOI. Against the G440, the offset (4.6 mm at the 7-iron) and the lies are the same; the G440 is stronger through the set (a 29° 7-iron against 30°, a 42° pitching wedge against 44.5°), has about a degree more bounce in most irons and longer 4-, 5- and 6-irons, and swaps the 49.5° UW, 54° and 58° for a 47° UW, 52° and 56°.

PING's last copy of its G410 page, in May 2025, offered irons only as fill-in or replacement clubs for owners with a G410 serial number, and the page is now gone, so a used set is the way to buy one. It suits a golfer who wants PING's offset and weaker lofts for little money; check that the set has every club you need.

After the utility wedge (UW, 49.5°): with a 56° sand wedge, the gap is 6.5°, just over the 4° to 6° step; a wedge in between would leave two steps under 4°.

Callaway's iron fitting guide puts your first wedge 4° to 6° above the highest-lofted wedge in your iron set. A gap in degrees is not a gap in yards. To choose that wedge, see the forgiving wedges by loft and bounce.

Use the iron finder to compare sets for your usual miss, and check the set makeup and loft gaps before ordering. Between a game improvement and a super game improvement head, this is how to tell which one your strike needs.

The PING G410 came in a senior (A) flex as well as regular (R): what the senior flex changes, and who it suits.

How the 3.5 adds up

The forgiveness score is our reading of what PING publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.

Head class 3 Game improvement: a forgiving head, slimmer than super game improvement.

The score rates the head only. Hand, flex and price decide which version you buy, not how forgiving it is. PING does not publish a sole width.
