What changed from the XXIO 13
Dunlop gives the XXIO 14 the XXIO 13's lofts, lies and face progression, club for club (a 28° 7-iron). The XXIO 14's graphite clubs are a quarter inch longer and 5 to 7 grams lighter, and XXIO's store also sells it with steel shafts. Dunlop does not say which forgiveness class the XXIO 13 belongs to, so we give it no score.
XXIO's own store sells the XXIO 13 new, right-handed and in regular flex, for about $490 less than an XXIO 14 set of the same seven clubs. Choose it for XXIO's light build for less; choose the XXIO 14 for a left-handed set, stiff flex, steel shafts or a length made to measure.

What changed from the XXIO 12
XXIO gives the XXIO 14 the XXIO 12's lofts and lies, club for club (a 28° 7-iron), as it gave the XXIO 13 between them. The XXIO 14's graphite clubs are a quarter inch longer, its 5- to 7-iron have half a millimetre less face progression, and XXIO's store also sells it with steel shafts. XXIO does not say which forgiveness class the XXIO 12 belongs to, so we give it no score.
XXIO's own store still sells the XXIO 12 new on its sale page, in either hand and in regular or stiff flex, for far less than an XXIO 14 set of the same clubs, and used sets cost less again. Choose it for XXIO's light build for the least money; choose the XXIO 14 for the longer shaft or steel shafts.

How the 4.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what XXIO publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head class | 4 | Super game improvement: the biggest, most forgiving iron head a maker sells. |
| Offset | +0 | XXIO doesn't publish a 7-iron offset, so offset earns no point. |
| Sole | +0 | XXIO doesn't publish a sole width, so the sole earns no point. |
| Forgiveness score | 4.0 | of 5 |
The score rates the head only. Hand, flex and price decide which version you buy, not how forgiving it is. XXIO does not publish a 7-iron offset or a sole width.
