Head to head

PING G425 vs G430 irons

Choose the G425 if a used set with the clubs you need costs less and you want the higher flight of its weaker lofts.

Choose the G430 if you may want PING to add or replace a club later, or you want the thinner face.

The G430 replaced the G425, and both score 3.5 of 5: the same game improvement head class and the same 4.6 mm of offset at the 7-iron. PING made the G430's lofts stronger (a 29° 7-iron against 30°, a 41° pitching wedge against 44.5°), gave it a thinner face and about a degree more bounce. A stronger loft flies lower club for club; it is not more help on a mishit. PING still builds G430 clubs to fill in or replace one in a set; it no longer does that for the G425, which is now bought used.
