Choose the 10K for its lighter HL build or a flatter lie.
G430 MAX 10K $449.98 · Qi10 Max $399.98, each with its shop and checked date
The two drivers that put 10K on the head in the same season, and both score 4 of 5. PING says the G430 MAX 10K passed 10,000 g-cm² of combined moment of inertia; TaylorMade sells the Qi10 Max on its 10K inertia without printing the unit. Neither has a movable weight: PING fixes 28 grams low and deep in its largest head, and TaylorMade stretches a shallow head from front to back under a carbon crown, with a carbon face. PING's hosel moves the loft 1.5° either way and the lie up to 3° flatter. Both come in 9°, 10.5° and 12° in either hand, from senior flex to extra stiff; the Qi10 Max also in a ladies flex, and PING builds a lighter HL version. Both have been replaced, by PING's G440 K and TaylorMade's Qi4D Max.
PING's straightest, most forgiving driver before the G440 K: a fixed 28-gram back weight set low and deep in PING's largest head shape took it past 10,000 g-cm² of combined MOI. In 9°, 10.5° or 12°.
PING's straightest, most forgiving driver before the G440 K: a fixed 28-gram back weight set low and deep in PING's largest head shape took it past 10,000 g-cm² of combined MOI. In 9°, 10.5° or 12°.
The G430 MAX 10K is built for stability above all: a fixed back weight set low and deep and PING's largest head shape took it past 10,000 g-cm² of combined MOI, and PING called it the straightest, most forgiving driver it had made.
Both are TaylorMade's 10K MOI head, 460cc, in 9°, 10.5° and 12° and both hands, and TaylorMade's charts rate each the most forgiving driver of its family, with a mid-high launch and mid spin; both score 4 of 5 here.
Both are 460cc G430 heads in 9°, 10.5° and 12° and both hands, with the same eight-position hosel that moves the loft up to 1.5° either way, and PING still lists both while stock lasts.
Both were their maker's most forgiving driver head, built round a combined moment of inertia of 10,000: PING says the G430 MAX 10K passed 10,000 g-cm², and Cobra says the DS-ADAPT MAX-K reached a combined 10,000 without saying how the figure is made up.
The Qi10 Max is the more forgiving: TaylorMade rated it highest for forgiveness of its Qi10 drivers and the Qi10 higher, and sold the Max on its 10K moment of inertia, in a Max-shaped head stretched from front to back against the Qi10's Traditional+ shape.
