Head to head

PING G740 vs Titleist T350 irons

Choose the G740 if thin and heavy strikes cost you shots.

Choose the T350 if you want Titleist's hollow forged-face head, or a 4-iron, which the G740 is not made in.

G740 $1,299.99T350 $1,499, each with its shop and checked date

The G740 gives more help on paper: it is PING's super game improvement head, with a wider sole, a longer blade, a thicker topline and 4.8 mm of offset at the 7-iron, which PING says lower the centre of gravity and raise the MOI. The T350 is Titleist's most forgiving T-Series iron, a hollow game improvement head with a forged face and split tungsten weighting, but Titleist publishes no offset or sole figure, so our score counts its class only: 3 of 5 against the G740's 5. Their lofts are close, a 28° 7-iron against 29°. The G740 is also sold in senior and extra stiff flex; the T350 in regular and stiff.

Its 7-iron is a strong 28°. If you need more height, compare the PXG Wildcat (32°) or the Srixon ZXiR HL (32.5°); if you strike it well and want a slimmer head, the G440.
