What changed from the JPX923 Forged
Both are Mizuno's forged midsize cavity for good to mid handicaps, the same length club for club and 79.5 mm long against the JPX923's 79.7 mm. The JPX925 Forged keeps the lofts from the 4-iron to the 8-iron (a 30° 7-iron) and is a degree stronger from the 9-iron to the GW (a 43° PW against 44°). It is half a degree more upright through the PW and a full degree in the GW, and has a hair less offset (3.2 mm at the 7-iron against 3.3 mm). Mizuno rebuilt the face as CORTECH and gave the sole a triple cut; the sole is within a tenth of a millimetre of the 923's to the 7-iron (20.4 mm at the 7-iron in both) and a few tenths narrower from the 8-iron down.
Mizuno no longer lists the JPX923 Forged, so a set is bought used, for far less than a new JPX925 Forged. Choose the 923 for nearly the same set for less, if a used one comes in your hand and flex; choose the 925 for a new set built to your lie and shaft.

How the 2.0 adds up
The forgiveness score is our reading of what Mizuno publishes about the head, from 1 to 5. It is not a test result. How every score works.
| Part | Points | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Head class | 2 | Players distance: a compact head that forgives a little. |
| Offset | +0 | 3.2 mm at the 7-iron, below our 4.5 mm mark. |
| Sole | +0 | Mizuno describes the sole ("20.4 mm across at the 7-iron") but not as wide. |
| Forgiveness score | 2.0 | of 5 |
The score rates the head only. Hand, flex and price decide which version you buy, not how forgiving it is.
