Choose it if

  • You want some help on mishits, short of the maker's most forgiving head.
  • You play left-handed: it was made left-handed.

Choose something else if

  • You need a senior flex: Cobra OPTM MAX-D, senior (A) flex in stock, 4.0 of 5.
  • If off-centre strikes cost you most, choose the SIM2 Max: TaylorMade rated it highest for forgiveness, with a mid launch and a 12° loft.

What changed in the Qi4D

Both are 460cc with a Twist Face and a 4° loft sleeve, 45.75 inches long, and both come in an 8° that is right-handed only. The SIM2, rated high for forgiveness on TaylorMade's 2021 chart (the SIM2 Max highest), has a 16-gram steel weight fixed at the back, a low launch and no moveable weight, in 9° and 10.5° for either hand. The Qi4D, five generations on, has a carbon face, four moveable weights and a new face curve, and adds a 12° in either hand.

Used SIM2s at 2nd Swing cost a fraction of a new Qi4D. Choose the SIM2 for a low-launching TaylorMade head for little money; choose the Qi4D for a 12°, a carbon face and weights that tune its flight.
