Head to head

TaylorMade Qi vs Qi HL irons

Choose the Qi HL if your swing is moderate and your irons fly low.

Choose the Qi if you swing faster and want the stronger lofts.

TaylorMade launched both together, on the same Cap Back head. The Qi HL is the light, high-launch version: its lofts are weaker from the 5-iron to the pitching wedge (a 30° 7-iron against 28°), TaylorMade says it is up to 26 grams lighter, and its chart rates it Highest for forgiveness and trajectory against High. TaylorMade's US pages print no offset or sole width for either, so both score 3 of 5 here.

    TaylorMade Qi

TaylorMade's game improvement iron before the Qi Max, with the same 28° 7-iron. TaylorMade says it built the face against the right miss that most game improvement irons favour, and its own chart rates its forgiveness High, as it rates the Qi Max's.
