Best driver for slicers
If your drives start straight and curve right (left for a left-hander), take a driver with draw help. The Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D gives as much as any, for the lowest price ($299.99). 12 of the 28 current drivers we cover have some draw help; they are all below, with the kind of help each one gives.
-
Best for a slice, and the lowest price
Forgiveness 4.0 out of 5
Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D
A heel-weighted draw head with built-in offset to fight a fade or slice, sold up to an unusually high 15° of loft.

PING G440 MAX
Its 29-gram back weight has a draw setting; for a stronger draw, PING's G440 SFT is the slice model.
Three kinds of draw help
A slice comes from a clubface that is still open to the swing path at impact. A forgiving head keeps an off-centre hit straighter, but it does not close the face. The makers help in one of three ways:
- A draw model (7 here): a separate head the maker builds for a slice, with weight low in the heel so the face closes more easily through impact. The most help, and it stays in the head.
- Draw bias built into the head (2 here): the standard head, weighted a little toward the heel. Less help than a draw model, with nothing to adjust.
- A draw setting on the weight (3 here): a neutral head whose sliding or swappable weight has a draw position. Less help than a draw model, but you can move the weight back to neutral as your slice straightens out.
Every current driver with draw help, most slice help first:

Slice help is our score from the maker's own description of the head (how we score), not a hitting test. All 12 are sold left-handed. 9 come in a senior flex as stock, counting Callaway's Light (R2), which its buying guide calls senior.
Loft matters as much as the head
More loft adds backspin, and backspin keeps a slice from curving as far; it also launches the ball higher, which a slower swing needs. If you slice and your driver is 9° or 10.5°, try the next loft up before you change the head: 9 of these 12 drivers adjust loft at the hosel, by their makers' pages. The highest stock loft here is 15°, on the Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D and Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D Women's. A mini driver takes the same idea further: more loft and a shorter shaft than a driver, so a slice curves less, from a smaller head.
What a draw driver cannot fix
Draw help shrinks a slice; it does not cure the swing that makes one. A big slice from an out-to-in path will still curve, only less, and on the days you swing well, a draw head can turn the ball into a hook. If your drives go both ways, choose for forgiveness instead: the most forgiving drivers include 16 neutral heads that keep an off-centre hit straighter without pulling the ball left. A lesson on the path is the lasting fix, and a draw head is worth having while you work on it.
The same help in your fairway woods and hybrids
A slice with the driver usually shows up with the woods too. These carry the same kind of draw help:
- Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D fairway wood: draw-biased head, built to reduce a slice, $179.99.
- Cobra OPTM MAX fairway wood: draw setting on the adjustable weight, $269.
- PING G440 SFT fairway wood: draw-biased head, built to reduce a slice, $297.
- Callaway Quantum Max D fairway wood: draw-biased head, built to reduce a slice, $399.99.
- Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D hybrid: draw-biased head, built to reduce a slice, $159.99.
- PING G440 hybrid: slight draw bias in the 5, 6 and 7 hybrids, $267.
- Callaway Quantum Max OS hybrid: draw bias built into the head, $319.99.
Prices checked 2 Nov. The bag check shows where a draw wood or hybrid would fit beside the clubs you carry.
