Golf club length chart
A standard men's 7-iron is 37" to 37½" long across the 42 current men's and unisex sets we cover, most often 37¼", and each club is about ½ inch shorter than the one before it. Women's sets run 36¼" to 37" at the 7-iron. Every length here is the maker's own standard; the calculator adds the change a fitter gives you.
Your set's lengths, with your fitter's change
This is an example: PING G440, ½ inch longer than standard. Choose your own set and the change you were given, and the lengths below follow.
PING G440, ½ inch longer: the 7-iron is 37½", against PING's standard 37".

How far each maker builds from standard
A fitter's change has to be one the maker will build. These are the choices each maker lists on its own pages, read on 15 and 17 Oct. A range read from one set's order page is for that set; the same maker's other sets can differ.
| Maker | Length | Lie | Loft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cobra Cobra KING MAX order page | 1" shorter to 1½" longer, in ¼" steps | 4° flat to 4° upright, in 1° steps | 2° stronger to 2° weaker |
| Srixon Srixon ZXiR order page | 2" shorter to 2" longer, in ¼" steps | 3° flat to 3° upright, in 1° steps (the 3° bends for right-handed clubs only) | 2° stronger to 2° weaker |
| Cleveland Cleveland HALO XL Full-Face order page | 2" shorter to 2" longer, in ¼" steps | 2° flat to 2° upright, in 1° steps | 2° stronger to 2° weaker |
| XXIO XXIO 14 order page | 1" shorter to 1" longer, in ¼" steps | not listed | not listed |
| Callaway Callaway Quantum Max order page, archived copy of 13 Jun 2026 | 2" shorter to 2" longer, in ¼" steps | 3° flat to 3° upright, in 0.5° steps | 2° stronger to 1.5° weaker (and a 2° weaker HL build) |
| PING PING's color code chart | 1½" shorter to 1½" longer, in ½" steps (the starting lengths on the chart, by height) | 4° flat to 5° upright, in 1° steps (ten color codes, black standard) | not listed |
| Mizuno Mizuno's custom specs page | not listed | not listed | up to 2° stronger (bending stronger adds offset and takes bounce off the sole) |
| TaylorMade TaylorMade's custom component booklet (31 Jul 2026) | not listed | 4° flat to 4° upright | 2° stronger to 2° weaker |
| Titleist Titleist's T-Series launch release (10 Jul 2025) | 4" shorter to 2" longer, in ¼" steps | 2° flat to 2° upright, in 0.5° steps (at least, in Titleist's words) | 2° stronger to 2° weaker, in 1° steps (at least, in Titleist's words) |
PING's lengths are where its chart starts you by height; a fitter can order others. TaylorMade's booklet lists its irons' lie and loft choices but no length range; its length notice says it builds custom lengths in quarter-inch steps, so ask the shop which lengths it will build. The same notice says TaylorMade has measured iron length the USGA's way, along the ground plane, since 1 November 2018, which reads a little longer on paper than its old method, and that its M6 irons were built with a 37½" 7-iron on their stock shafts but 37" on any custom shaft: measure a used TaylorMade set before you match new clubs to it. A change in loft also moves the bounce on the sole, which the wedge bounce guide explains.

A dash is a club the maker does not make in that set or prints no length for (PING's women's G Le sets use hybrids in place of the long irons). The Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 is left out: its maker prints the shaft length, not the length of the finished club. The loft chart sets the same clubs side by side by loft.
What to measure before a fitting
Stand straight in the shoes you play in, with your arms hanging loose, and have someone measure from the crease of your wrist to the floor. Take that and your height to a fitter, who will watch where the sole meets the ground on a few shots and tell you whether to go longer, shorter or stay standard, and whether to change the lie. Then come back to the calculator with the change you were given. The fitting guide for beginners says what else a first fitting covers.
Questions buyers ask
How long is a standard 7-iron?
37" to 37½" in the 42 current men's and unisex sets we cover, most often 37¼"; 36¼" to 37" in the 5 women's sets. Each maker sets its own standard, so the same number on two sets is not always the same length.
How much longer is each club than the next?
About ½ inch: that is the most common step between the 7-iron and the 8-iron in the sets we cover. Some makers keep the wedges at one length; the calculator above lists each set's wedges.
What are one-length irons?
Sets that build every iron to the same length, most often the 7-iron's, so the setup is the same with each. Cobra built its ONE Length sets at 37¼ inches; the one-length irons guide sets one beside Cobra's standard set, club by club.
What length clubs do I need for my height?
We do not turn a height into a length: arm length and posture change it, which is why a fitter measures you from wrist to floor and watches where the club meets the ground. Take that measurement and your height to a fitting, then use the calculator above with the change you are given.
Does a longer club change the lie angle?
A longer club stands more upright when you address the ball, so a fitter who changes the length usually checks the lie angle too. Each iron club page prints the maker's standard lie beside the length, and the lie angle chart compares every set's.
How long should my putter be?
Most putters are sold in 33, 34 and 35 inches; 13 of the 21 we cover come in 33, 34 and 35. Choose by posture, with your eyes over the ball and your arms hanging relaxed (putters for beginners).
